On February 14, Schools of the Sacred Heart participated in a school-wide bake sale in support of Hearts for Haiti, a Sacred Heart Network project to help build Notre Dame de La Colline, a school in Lacolline, Haiti. The project was begun by Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart upper school student Molly Nuell. In 2009 during her sophomore year, Molly began the club Heart for Haiti dedicated to promoting social awareness of Haiti and raising funds to build a school in Lacolline, Haiti. Since then the project has grown and in December 2011, the school broke ground on its new building.
Schools of the Sacred Heart parents, students, faculty and staff showed their love and support at the Hearts for Haiti bake sale held on Valentine’s Day. This was a great Goal IV community building event for SSH Grand Coteau and for its 22 sister schools. Hearts for Haiti also supported Goal III, educating to a critical consciousness and offering opportunities for direct service and advocacy.
