SJB: Philosophy

As a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States, St. John Berchmans School will strive to form the whole child and specifically educate to:

- A personal and active faith in God,

- A deep respect for intellectual values,

- A social awareness which impels to action,

- The building of community as a Christian value, and

- Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

St. John Berchmans faculty and staff will participate, both within their division as well as with staff at the Academy and within the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, in training in Sacred Heart philosophy. They will also participate in workshops focusing on techniques for teaching boys and will draw on the rapidly expanding research available on "how boys learn" and "what boys need."

Founded 1821

The very intention of Sacred Heart education is to educate the "whole child." We encourage our students to identify their individual talents and to develop them to their fullest potential. This is the tradition of Sacred Heart.
